Premature Pilgrimage to El Capitan?

I find it unfortunate regarding the recent choice to abandon updates [for current owners] and compatibility [for new users] with previous versions of OS X. El Capitan is only five months old, as of this comment, and many users, myself included, are still choosing to wait longer to update from Yosemite, considering bugs and app compatibility issues remaining in OS X 10.11.

I do love Writer, and will continue to use it, but I am sorry to see the chasm of obsolescence appear so quickly—and in my eyes, prematurely—between the product and my 15-month-old operating system.
